- Realism: Generated images are nearly indistinguishable from real photos
- Text rendering: Finally able to generate correct text within images
- Consistency: The same character can maintain a consistent appearance across different scenes
- Resolution: 4K by default, with 8K upscaling support
Use Cases
- E-commerce: Product photos and model shots fully AI-generated (many sellers are already doing this)
- Advertising: Production costs for creative assets have dropped to nearly zero
- Gaming: Character design and scene concept art
- Architecture/Interior Design: Renderings generated with a single click
Controversy
When AI images become indistinguishable from real photos: - Misinformation becomes harder to detect - Photographers and designers will face job disruption - Copyright issues (whether AI training data constitutes infringement)
Midjourney's founder David Holz said they will embed invisible watermarks in images. But for every defense, there's a workaround—people will always find ways to remove them.
My Take
AI image generation won't replace true photographers—just as cameras didn't replace painters. But commercial photography will indeed be largely replaced by AI. Future photographers may need to transition into "AI creative directors."
